Mario Austin stars in Little Boxes

Donalsonville’s Mario Austin is hometown proud and super excited to announce his appearance in the short film Little Boxes. The movie, based on the Black Panther organization, was filmed in el Cajun, California. “The film is basically written about me,” commented Austin. “I am the main leading character in the movie.

“A man from Blakely also appears in the movie, and plays the role of a bully. The message of the movie is to portray the daily life of the Black Panthers and the challenges they face daily in the society as a group.”

In April of 2017, Mario became a member of Hollywood casting and film. He says, “To this day, after I became a member, I had no idea that I would ever receive a callback from any film director, but luckily I did. After a couple of months, I received a call from film director Austin Secrest to do an audition for a short film called “Under the Veil”, which is about a soldier. It was supposed to be filmed in November last year, but due to certain circumstances, it was called off. In December the decision was made to shoot a different film called “Little Boxes”.  In an interview with The Donalsonville News, Austin happily shares that he is very excited about his first movie and is “hometown proud”.

The short film little boxes will be releasing on YouTube early this month. Plans are to develop it into a feature film, which will then have the potential to be played at the movie theater, on DVDs and Netflix.

Austin was born and raised in Donalsonville and is the son of  Gene and Christine Austin.
